Camp NaNoWriMo: Day 18-Halfway There!

I know. I am more than halfway through the month. But, I finally made it half way to my word count. And by halfway I mean I passed it by 2,000 words as of today.

It feels good to be nearer to my goal, especially now that I am only 1,809 words behind. And I just realized that my 6,800 words that I wrote of the first story that I trashed would technically count towards my goal of 50,000 words, meaning my “real” count should be somewhere around 37,000.

However, I like putting all of my words towards one piece of work. Now I’m not saying that it’s wrong to do it otherwise, or that if you are doing something different like character interviews or background pieces that you are not doing it the right way. I am just saying that for my own personal goals, I like to focus the entire word count on a rough draft (or draft of some sort) of one entire work.

I have to admit, I am much more enthused about my current work than the NaNo novel from last November. I know exactly where this story is going and it is one of the easiest things I have ever written. Obviously it will need work once I’m done, but the story is much more developed than the first.

That’s it for now! Here’s to another 23,000 words!

Word count: 27,223 of 50,000

Sanity: Never been better. My brain is a fan of planning 🙂
